Day 25: Royal Artillery Museum

I thought today was going to be a boring day. Towards the end, it did get pretty awful, but the actual field trip part was really enjoyable. We went to the Royal Artillery Museum. I didn’t know what to expect, but the guide was funny. We started with an hour lecture on WWI, which was fascinating because I’ve never really learnt about WWI. After that, a man in a WWII kit talked to us about a few of the weapons and showed us a heavy gun (a cannon.) We fired a few blanks at the building next door and then the guide showed us the world’s oldest cannons and some newer ones.

Day 13: HMS Belfast, Wicked, and Germany

Today, we were supposed to meet outside of the dorm at 9:30. Well, being an early bird, I was awake at 6:30 and outside at 8:30. The rest of the class arrives slowly, though we were all still way ahead of time. The teacher walked up right at 9:30 and said that plans changed; we still had another hour.

Day 12: Churchill War Rooms and Westminster Abbey

Today, my class went to the Churchill War Rooms. They were cool, but I was expecting it to be more like in that Doctor Who episode. There should have been a Dalek in there!

We were able to spend as little or as much time in there as we wanted, so a few of us sped through to hit another site after.

Day 11: Bletchley Park

Today, I went with my class to Bletchley Park. It was where the allies broke Germany’s codes and helped win us the war. We started with a lecture about how the Enigma and Colossus machines were built and how they decoded things. It was really interesting!
